Peter founded Redward Associates in 2011 as an independent research provider. As the Principal, Peter manages a small team of analysts and applies his vast experience in foreign exchange strategy to refine market intelligence, encourage non-consensus discussion, and uncover overlooked opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region.
Prior to founding Redward Associates, Peter was Head of Emerging Asia Research at Barclays Capital based in Singapore. Peter was responsible for a team of 19 economists and strategists covering economics, sovereign credit, fixed income and foreign exchange for Emerging Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Under Peter's leadership, the team was voted number one for three consecutive years (2009-11) by clients in the FinanceAsia Fixed Income Survey, and also achieved top rank in the Bloomberg survey of FX forecasters and the UK-based Elenora survey of dedicated emerging market fund managers.
During his time at Deutsche Bank AG, Peter was Head of EMFX Strategy, supporting the development of the Bank's successful Singapore dollar NEER product and re-internationalising Malaysian ringgit product, and he was also an early proponent of the recovery in Indonesia.
Peter also has experience as an emerging market portfolio manager at Citadel Investment Group (Europe) based in London, where he traded fixed income, sovereign credit and foreign exchange products with a primary focus on Emerging Asia.
Peter’s career began as an economist at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in 1995 where he was employed in a variety of policymaking and forecasting roles. Peter has a Master of Philosophy (Hons) degree in economics from the University of Auckland and a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics degree from Massey University.
